Can I Build a BarnGeek Barn with Metal Siding?

I am interested in your high top horse barn and would like to use metal siding can I do this?

Is there a big cost difference between metal or your wood siding?

Would I have to plan my exterior stall doors before or can I add exterior door later like I would windows?

Would the loft joists and loft decking be included in your kits?

Metal Siding
by: BarnGeek

Yes you can use metal siding on our barn designs. You don't need to make any modifications to the plans other than the fact that you don't need to get board and batten siding.

You would get the equivalent amount of steel siding instead.

Or you could go over the board and batten with steel so you can maintain the classic wood look on the inside.

Also you can use metal roofing without the wood roof sheathing if that is what you prefer. Again if you are not needing the wood for looks then you don't need to install it. You can just attach the metal roofing right to the top of the purlins.

As far as cost goes, you probably would save a little bit of money by using the metal but not a ton.

On the other hand, doing this on the roof could save a significant amount because you would be combining the roof sheathing and roofing itself into one function. Thereby eliminating the need for additional roofing material on top of the sheathing itself.

However if you ever want to insulate your barn this could cause an issue because you would need some sort of barrier between the metal roofing and the insulation.

Yes, you can add the stall doors later. You would just need to add posts on either side of the door when the time comes, with metal brackets to attach them to the floor. 4x6 posts should work fine for that.

Yes, Our wood included barn kits include a full loft with joists and decking.
