We have a large dairy barn that needs to be taken down and removed to make space for new construction.

We are located about an hour north of Chicago and about 30 minutes south of Milwaukee.

The old half of the barn is a post and beam structure circa 1900 to 1910. The timbers are believed to be eastern white oak and are rough sawn.

There is some deterioration, but much of it is in good condition. The newer part of the barn uses Shawver trusses with long span southern yellow pine. The trusses are 2 x 10's and the rafters are 2x6's.

All of the dimensional lumber in the newer part of the barn is in very good condition. The siding is face nailed tongue and groove and has a nice gray patina.

We were working with Rick Bott, a well known Wisconsin barn expert, to dismantle and re-purpose the barn lumber, but Rick suddenly passed away this spring. A sad loss to the barn restoration and preservation community and to us personally. With Rick's passing, we have decided our best course of action is to find someone who will dismantle the barn in exchange for the salvage rights to the barn wood.

I am open to other arrangements. I have a skid steer on site and would be willing to provide the high lift and other support to keep some of the salvaged lumber.

There is plenty of room on the site for trucks and equipment and our schedule is flexible. We would like to complete the dismantling by the end of the summer.

I will need to have either proof of insurance or a liability waiver from anyone who is working on this project.
