Old @ 18th century English Barn Schoharie NY

by Beverly T Lavick
(Schoharie NY USA)

I need to sell my beautiful old barn. One corner is failing and I can't afford the repairs. The barn is
@ 50 x 70. I am told it was once a smaller dutch barn, then raised to the large English barn as seen today. There are at least 3 50' 12'x12' hand hewn beams in place with lots of excellent flooring, hardware, doors, windows etc. It has a standing seam roof, and 80' silo. I can be reached at 5188722307/5185739371

where is this barn? This looks exactly like the barn on my grandparents old property but i know it's been gone for a long long time. This is almost exact replica. Down to the silo. Curious about this barn and where it is in schoharie. My grandparents house was on Route 443 and the barn looked exactly like this inside and out.

ENGLISH BARN
by: Charles Howell

Hi Beverly, I am intrigued by your description of some of the beam work in your barn. I am a professional timber framer in Kentucky and I travel extensively in the Southeast building timber frame homes and doing barn conversions. I am fully insured and have 35 years experience working safely with heavy timbers. Preparatory to a visit to your barn I was wondering if you have more pictures of the exterior photographed from all four elevations and more pictures, too, of the interior including the roof system. I would greatly appreciate it. If you have a dollar figure in mind it would also help me decide if this barn qualifies as a candidate for conversion.
Regards,
Charles Howell
