Old 40 X 60 Gambrel Roof Barn Franklin NC

by Hank Shuler
(Franklin, NC)

Built 100 years ago with additions 70 and 60 years ago, this neglected barn has rough sawn beams of up to 10" and mixed planks from 3-1/2" to 10". The weathered gray lumber was all harvested from the farm. Roof is tin. The lower section of the barn includes 8 stables, 2 feeding areas, and a hay off-loading drive through. The upper section of the barn is a hay loft. The original foundation, along with one wall, is stone. In addition to the lumber in the barn there is a small store of cherry lumber in the loft - condition unknown.

Love that it has family history😊!!
Can you tell if the main structure is usable? As far as moving it and rebuilding it? That is what we are inyrested in finding a old structure with salgable frame, that we can rebuild and give new life too.

Answer to 12/14 More Info
by: Hank Shuler

Looking for best offer to remove the barn and pay us for salvaged lumber. The original section if the barn was completed by my husbands grandfather around 1915. It has been used primarily for cattle and hay storage.

more info?

What are you asking for the wood and have you looked into having someone come take it down, or is that part of what you want with the sale?
Can you tell me a little bit about the history of the barn?
