Renewed Timber, Central Kansas and surrounding areas, Los Angeles, CA

by Will Nitch
(Los Angeles, CA)

At Renewed Timber we specialize in bringing life back to hand crafted building materials of the past; a time when quality of the work, not timeliness was priority. We pride ourselves on taking less from the environment now, and utilizing materials that have already been harvested from the earth to build our homes again.

Our lumber is from old growth trees that have had 200 to 400 years to slowly grow in dense forests in the Midwest. This slow growth provides the trees time to properly mature and gives them strength and durability that is unrivaled compared to modern day farmed and harvested trees.

Time has aged them in such a way that is unlike any farmed lumber available on the market today. The constant changes of temperature and moisture levels over its lifetime have hardened the wood to a robust strength impervious to conditions that would otherwise degrade new materials.

As time passes each piece of wood will acquire its own color and texture. No 2 boards are exactly alike. Within each board is written a rich history of time and stories of the past settlers braving the unknown to make a new home for themselves and declare a little section of this new country their own.
