Founded in 1982 by Scott A. Murray, Thistlewood Timber Frame Homes is a company with its craft and materials rooted in the past. Our vision and dedication to conserving valuable wood resources is a philosophy we stand for and live by today. In addition to building over 450 homes across Canada, the United States, United Kingdom, Asia and the Caribbean, we are also known for our antique reclaimed structures including barns, log homes and other building materials that we source and renovate for a renewed purpose such a new home, cottage, addition to an existing dwelling or interesting commercial building.
We presently have timber frame barns, log homes and over one million board feet of reclaimed Douglas fir and other woods in our inventory. Using reclaimed structures and lumber means fewer modern forests are cut down and this makes sound conservation sense. We feel proud in knowing that we are doing our part to help conserve our valuable wood resources and preserve some of Canada’s architectural history.
In addition to timber frame homes and reclaimed structures, our millwork division - Vintage Woodcraft Inc. also offer a variety of products all proudly crafted from woods salvaged from old buildings, warehouses, factories, distilleries and more. These products include ceiling and entry trusses, decorative beams and embellishments, stairs, flooring, millwork, custom furniture for home and garden and much, much more.
Reclaimed lumber is transformed into one-of-a-kind pieces which possess charm, quality and a distinctive personality characteristic only of wood that is hundreds of years old. With such a story behind each piece of wood, we can only believe that our products are destined to be treasured for generations to come.
