Project by Thomas Johnston in Omaha Nebraska

Hello, I used your photos and assembled my chicken coop. for my first time it came out well enough to house 8 birds, I built it in the backyard, it kinda got away from me, did not intend for it to be this big. Any way I hope the birds like it.

I used old lumber and nails and screws I had left over and wood from an old fence. I spent maybe 300.00 dollars on it, It took me two weeks. I am not a carpenter and some of the wood was askew not plumb. so I had to make adjustments.

In omaha you have to have a permit and it costs nothing, the permit renews each year in January.

This was a good project, I am ready to tackle a space station now. or out house.

It all depends on the need, I know do not use the word depends for us older humans, I am 63.

I would encourage anyone to do this, it is not difficult, just make sure the lumber is straight, it eliminates the need to explain why the coop slants.

The chickens may find it hard to stand in one side of the building. Thank you for your consideration.
